Byzantine Hagiography of Saint George.
Saint George is one of the most famous saints in Christianity. He was born in the 3rd century and served in the Roman army.
He is known for his legendary battle with a dragon that threatened a political principality. George defeated the dragon, symbolizing courage, faith and victory over evil.
He is the patron saint of soldiers, farmers and many professions. His feast day, the Feast of Saint George, is celebrated on April 23.
Hagiography occupies an important place in church art due to its self-evident artistic value. In addition to this, a hagiographic image connects man with the holiness of the person depicted.
All our Hagiographies are painted with egg tempera while you can choose the size of the image, the decoration of the background and the language of the inscriptions as well as the type of wood you wish to use.
