Byzantine Hagiography of Saint Calliope.
Saint Kalliopi was born in the 3rd century in Greece and lived during the period of the persecuted Christian community.
According to tradition, she refused to worship idols and remained faithful to Christianity. As a result, she was tortured and eventually martyred by dying for her faith.
The feast of Saint Calliope is celebrated on February 10. It is an example of a saint that symbolizes devotion to faith and resistance against the rejection of Christianity.
Hagiography occupies a valuable place in church art because beyond its self-evident artistic value, a hagiographic image unites man with the holiness of the depicted person.
All our Hagiographies are painted with egg tempera while you can choose the size of the image, the decoration of the background and the language of the inscriptions as well as the type of wood you wish to use.
